When we think about partying, what comes to mind is the dance, the music, the booze, and the people. Rarely do we think about the dangers of Tampa nightlife or what we need to do just in case something terrible happens. That’s why we’re often stuck in a rut when an incident does happen and we need to get out of the club or the bar or wherever we are in the wee hours of the morning.

Before going to a party, make sure you checked out these three things:

Fire exits

Fire exits are as important as breathing. When you do find yourself in a situation where you need to use the fire exit, that means the situation is pretty dire serious. When attending a party in a bar, a club, or someplace else, make sure to check where the fire exits are, so that if anything happens, you’ll be the first in line toward the fire exits. However, make sure that the fire exits are not blocked or locked.

Location map

Take a mental note of the location and its surroundings. Where the roads lead, are there any dead ends, and where the nearest police station or fire station is located… these are all important factors to be considered. Just in case an accident happens that you have no control of, you can simply lead the crowd or yourself and your group toward the nearest station.

Fire extinguishers

Where are the fire extinguishers? Are there any? Can you have access to them? It’s important to know where these are located, so you can help extinguish the fire if it is still possible. Or, you can lead the firemen to it if you have the chance to do so. The same goes when you’re renting a hotel room or an apartment unit. Make a mental note of where the fire extinguishers are, so you won’t simply panic when a fire breaks out.

Parking lot

It may not be practical to go and save your car when an earthquake, a fire, or a shooting incident happens in the nightclub, but it would be nice to know where your car is parked if it is possible to have access to it. You would have an easier time getting out of the area, of course. Plus, you may even help a lot of people if you have a big van to accommodate those who need help.
