Lakeland restaurants are supposed to destress us from the work week that was. They are supposed to serve us good food and provide a place for our friends to hang out in, so we can catch up with each other. It’s not supposed to stress you out. However, society dictates that we follow certain rules when dining out. And though these are not by-the-book, it would benefit us and other guests in the restaurants if we can be considerate and courteous of each other.

Believing that it’s a first-come-first-serve restaurant

Sure, diners and fastfood chains are first-come-first-serve restaurants. The moment you stepped at the end of the line, you know you’re going to be served in a few minutes or so. The same does not work for high-end and luxurious restaurants. Even during lunchtime, when customers coming in are low, you cannot expect these restaurants to be ready with your Wagyu steak order.

No, they will most likely have a reservation list and the amount of food they prepared will be based on that list. So, if you go there thinking you’ll be served whatever you like, you might have to settle for something that are generally prepared by the restaurant staff. Don’t expect a lobster or broth that simmered for 12 hours to be ready for you.

Not tipping the receptionist and the wait staff

We know that the economy is tough and earning $5 is no joke, so we should not simply give away money. But the reason why you dined out is because you have some extra cash. If you cannot tip your wait staff at least a dollar or two, then you’re doing them a great injustice. Though it is not mandatory, almost everyone in America knows that wait staff, even the bartenders and receptionists, live off tips from customers.

Taking too long to order food

You should not be timed, and you are not. But the problem is that some people take too long to order even though they have made reservations there a week or two ago. The reason why restaurants publish their menu on the internet is not for others to copy their dishes. The reason is that they want their customers to have a chance to check out the dishes and what they would like to order before they arrived in the restaurant.

Hanging out there long after the food is gone

It’s not a crime to stay in the restaurant after you have finished your dessert. Maybe you’re having a cup of coffee or tea for the road? But, if the dishes have been cleared and you’re not eating or sipping anything anymore, then maybe it’s time for you and your party to go. Don’t hold up the line just because you have nowhere to go and nothing to do.
