Millennials are changing the way we are serving food. They are also changing the way we market our Tampa nightlife businesses. They are staying more at home, preferring to spend their money on their food and drinks and use their living rooms as the dance floor. They are smart and they are practical with their money. If you want them to come out of their comfort zones, you’ve got to offer something special.

Mocktails

That’s right, millennials are not alcohol-loving people. Sure, they chug down the occasional beer and tequila but they are nothing like the baby boomers when it comes to drinking alcoholic beverages? The reason might stem from the fact that being healthy has become trendy these days.

Most of the millennials are following a strict diet program and most diet programs do not allow the consumption of alcohol. This means you have to offer something, a mocktail of some sorts, that would make millennials think they are drinking alcohol when they are not.

Organic food

We don’t have to tell you this, but millennials are very conscious about what they put in their bodies. They want the ingredients from the food they eat to be organically sourced. It must also come from a sustainable agricultural method. They are conscious of the effect of our eating habits on the environment and they are trying to effect change by adjusting the way they eat.

Deconstructed dishes

Millennials love to play around. They love photographing their food, too. And what makes for a more fun food experiment than seeing a deconstructed tiramisu on your plate. That’s right. You could separate the components of the tiramisu, so you are basically offering coffee liquor, ladyfingers, cocoa, and whipped cream on a really cute tray arrangement.

Trendy food

Millennials want trendy food. Rainbow-colored bagels, cotton candy tacos, fried Snickers and Milky Way, chocolate-covered apples, live octopuses, sushi burrito… name it and they have probably tried it. If you want to clinch this elusive generation of consumers, you’ve got to offer them something that they haven’t tried before.

They like local cuisines (so you can bring influences from African and Asian cuisines, for example) and they love the experience of trying out something new. Whether it’s ice cream made of chili or cake made with cereals, millennials are always looking for something they can share on their social media accounts. And that’s exactly what you should do—create dishes that would look good on Facebook and Instagram.
