There are two types of online retailers: the ones who have physical shops and the ones who sell exclusively online. As a Tampa shopping connoisseur, we’d like to think that we’re kind of an expert in giving advices to those who are shopping-challenged. The thing with shopping online is that it’s convenient and it’s fast and it’s pretty reliable given the security measures being put in place by these e-commerce sites.

Still, there’s nothing as satisfactory as being able to try on a dress or a pair of shoes and coming home with them instead of having to wait for the shipment to arrive. If you plan to shop for clothes, we always advise to check your size with that particular brand or style before going online and checking out the clothes from your cart. But if you do not have the time to do so, then manually measure your size and study the size chart provided by the online store. Most of the sizes anyway use generic measurements, and you should be fine as long as you’re not too obsessive-compulsive about a dress that’s a little tight or a pair of shoes that’s a little loose.

But hey, first thing’s first. When shopping online, check what security measures the site had in store for you. There should be a lock icon beside the https:// address. This means that whatever personal information you enter into the site’s system, it will be encrypted and protected from hackers and online violators. You don’t want to get into the wrong end of a hacker’s job or you’ll find your credit cards maxed out or your personal information being used for fraud and other criminal activities.

And then next, check the return policy of the e-commerce site, so that your money and transactions would be protected. Otherwise, you have to be really sure about the purchase you’re making. Most online stores don’t allow a “change of mind” as reason for your return, but they would accept wrong sizes, colors, or items, of course.

Finally, look into the shipping method and fees of the seller. If the item will be coming from overseas, you might have to wait long and pay more for it. You should always prefer to get an item from a local seller or distributor, so you won’t have to pay for the exorbitant fees of getting them shipped from outside the country.
