Avoiding Tampa shopping is almost next to impossible. Every day, there are new stuff that come out and we want to get our hands on it to be trendy and to be cool. That’s basically what the internet does to us. We always have to be one step ahead of our social media friends, and it brought this whole society to a lot of debt for Tampa shopping. See those new limited version bags? We’ve got to get our hands on that one! How about the latest iPhone? Seriously, let’s wait for it outside the Apple store.

There’s simply nothing that stops us from going straight into the debt hell. Unless, of course, we have the fortitude to tell ourselves when it’s time to stop tapping those credit cards on the terminals. Here are some tips to stop you from getting into debt:

Do not bring your credit cards with you

Are you going shopping? Do you have the money for it? Have you earned what you’re paying for it? We know it’s very unusual for us to bring cash around when we go shopping but since we are trying not to overspend, we need to stop bringing all our credit cards with us. Bring your emergency card and nothing else, the one with a very low credit limit. That should stop you from buying anything you cannot afford.

Ask the credit card companies to lower your limit

Do you have a supermax limit on your cards? That will push you, at times, to buy something that’s so expensive you’ll have to pay for it for years. What you can do is to ask the credit card companies to lower your credit limit. If you have a low credit card limit, there’s a bigger chance you’ll save that for the really important purchases. A large credit card limit will only make you feel like you can buy anything when you actually cannot.

Do not buy anything you cannot afford

This is the cardinal rule of Tampa shopping. No matter how much you like the shoes or the bag or the makeup, if you cannot afford it, don’t buy it. There is nothing wrong with not having all the trendy things at once, just don’t make your life miserable by getting into debt for things you could have lived without having. Shopping is a treat and in order to have that treat, you have to sacrifice and save money first.
