Someone said that if you want to lose weight and avoid eating fatty food, you should altogether skip eating in Lakeland restaurants. We literally want to punch that person on the face. The thing about losing weight is that you don’t need to sacrifice your happiness to maintain that weight. You can still enjoy a trip to your favorite restaurant without needing to punish yourself afterwards.

Count your calories

What is your daily calorie intake requirement? If you cannot go over 1,200 calories in a day, then you’re in a very short leash. You would need to avoid as much butter, oil, sweets, and carbohydrates throughout the day.

If you’re planning for a dinner in a restaurant, eat as simply and as basic as you can during breakfast and dinner. A wheat toast and some jam and coffee are enough for breakfast. Your lunch should be greens and fruits. For dinner, you can compute how many calories you have taken throughout the two meals you had.

Deduct that from the original calorie requirement, and you probably still have around 600 calories to spare on your dinner. Not bad, huh? You can get a burger for less than 400 calories. A couple of spoonful of ice cream wouldn’t hurt, too.

Prioritize protein

Carbohydrates will shoot your calories to the roof. The key here is to choose proteins over carbs and sugar. If you’re ordering your entrée, choose a lean meat like chicken and turkey. The combination should be meat and veggies only. If you want mashed potatoes, for example, you better have it without gravy.

If you want a soup for starters, you better choose those clear broths and not the cream-based soups. Yes, cream-based soups are delicious, but they are also full of fat and calories. Besides, eating high-protein meals will make you feel fuller and will suppress your appetite for the rest of the day.

Eat your food without guilt

If you somehow manage to eat above your usual calorie count, don’t kill yourself for it. Instead, make sure to burn those calories away during your workout the next day. You don’t have to feel guilty every time you eat a couple of calories above your limit.

You can still enjoy having a burger and fries once in a while. Complete depriving yourself of the food that you love will only make you hate dieting and working out even more. And trust us, that’s not helpful to the program at all.
