In a study by BI Intelligence, it found out that mobile commerce is expected to generate 45 percent of all e-commerce sales by 2020. That’s almost half of the expected Tampa shopping sales. Right now, mobile commerce is responsible for nearly 30 percent of the total e-commerce sales. That’s about $79 billion.

Online shopping apps are the way of the future. In fact, the study found out that 85 percent of smartphone users would rather shop via an app than the website. This is the perfect opportunity for you to create an app for your online store and reap the rewards.

Make it simple

Smartphone screens are getting bigger and bigger but this does not mean that you can be negligent of the clutter on your app.

Make the app easy to navigate and make sure that it has an uncluttered homepage and everything is easy to find. Customers are not going to adapt to a cluttered app. They would simply look for something better.

Keep the sign-in and checkout process simple

Another thing that you should uncomplicate is the sign-up and sign-in processes, as well as the checkout procedure. Some users will buy on impulse but when they are faced with having to provide all their personal details on a sign-up page, they may abandon their carts altogether.

Allow users to use PayPal for the payment method and allow them to use their Facebook accounts to sign up for your app. You may also allow them to buy the product as an anonymous customer and make sure to store information for auto-complete on future checkouts.

Allow them to “favorite” products

Some users are just browsing through your products while they are bored at work or during the commute.

If you don’t allow them to go back to what they were browsing before, they may not search for the products again and you’ll lose a chance to make a sale. Allow users to create a wishlist, so they can check out the list again once they are ready to make a purchase.

Make “Add to Cart” and “Buy Now” prominent on the page

Don’t make it hard for the customers to see what they’ve put in their shopping carts. Make it easy for them to access their cart.

At the same time, allow them to “buy now” the products. That means being directed to the checkout process immediately without having to go through the shopping cart.

Secure their data

The one thing that customers will look for in your app is the security of their details. They are going to enter their personal and financial details on your mobile app, so you better make sure that all this information are protected and secured.
