Time really flies fast. It’s April now, which means springtime is here and loads of events to kick off the unofficial start of the summer season this side of the globe. We’ve always been happy with Tampa events because there are simply so many things happening in this city one after the other that we will never get bored. There’s always something in store for all of us.

This April 2018 is no different. Every day, there’s something new and special being added in Tampa’s calendar of events. Here are four of the most exciting things you should watch out for in Tampa this month:

Festa Italiana’s Wines of Italy

To kickstart the 21st Annual Festa Italiana, The Italian Club of Tampa has something up its sleeves. The Wines of Italy event will showcase the very best of Italy’s wine regions, including, but not limited to, Abruzzi, Friuli, Piedmont, Toscana, Veneto, and Verona. The event will feature over 70 kinds of wines, though it will also shine a light on Italian favorites such as Amarones, Barolos, Brunellos, Chiantis, Moscatos, Pinot Grigios, Prosecos and more.

Aside from Italy’s wines, we will also get to sample wines from
California’s regions. All of these will be available for sampling. Wines will not only be the center of attention in this event. There will be a taste of Italian cuisine and delicious bites from Carrabba’s Italian Grill, Crush Happy Hour, District Tavern Tampa, SaltBlock Hospitality + Catering, Haute Dog, and many more.

Green Day’s American Idiot

Green Day’s American Idiot is a two-time Tony Award-winning musical that is based on Grammy awardee, multi-platinum album American Idiot by Green Day. The high-octane show features all the songs from American Idiot, as well as some songs from the follow-up album, 21st Century Breakdown.

In the musical, Johnny, Tunny, and Will try to find meaning in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks. The three men flew to the city life, but were quickly disgruntled by a series of decisions: Tunny entered the armed forces, Will is called back home to attend to family duties, and Johnny became distracted by a seductive love interest and a hazardous friendship.

There are almost no dialogues in the musical as it relied on the lyrics of the songs in American Idiot.

Friday Concerts In The Park

The best thing about the spring season is that Friday concerts are back. These concerts are held every springtime in Tampa, from April 6 to May 25. This is the longest running and the most beloved out of all Tampa concert series. Now on its 31st season, it continues to bring joy to the people of Tampa who take pride in this concert series that features different types of genres—from rock to blues to contemporary jazz.

98Rock Fest

98Rock is Tampa Bay’s leading rock radio station. It hosts and organizes the annual rock festival, which is now on its 10th anniversary. The “Big 10” will happen on April 20, Friday at the Amalie Arena at 6PM. Just recently, 98Rock’s radio personalities, “Crash & AJ,” revealed the lineup for the 98Rock Fest. For its 10th anniversary, the festival will feature rock legends such as Shinedown to headline, Three Days Grace, Seether, Starset, Fozzy, 10 Years, and many more.
