Finding A New Favorite Lakeland Restaurants

Enjoy Swimming, But Be Safe Too!

Summer is just around the corner, and with it comes the promise of frolicking in the pool and trying out new water sports activities. But no matter how fun water activities are and how much we’re looking forward to splashing around in the pool or the ocean, let’s never forget to stay safe. According to statistics, more than 1,000 children under the age of 14 drown each year. Another 16,000 were put to risk for near-drowning while children ages four and below are at greater risk. Hurricane Season 2016

With June 1st marking the beginning of Hurricane Season 2016, it’s time for Lakeland and Polk County to be ready in case of a storm. With three named storms so early in the 2016 Hurricane Season, and Tropical Storm Colin churning away in the Gulf and heading towards Florida, we feel it’s a good idea to be reminded of what we need to do to be prepared for a possible storm. Lakeland – Alligator in swimming pool – Of course :)

Finding an alligator in your Lakeland swimming pool would be shocking to most people but for true Lakelanders it's not an impossibility. Gator in your pool, surprising but not shocking. For us a swimming pool is a cool, clear and refreshing escape from hot Lakeland summers. Alligators see a swimming pool more like The Beverly Hillbillies... a Cement Pond. Scott Lake Elementary Time Capsule

We had a great time this afternoon for the unearthing of the Scott Lake Elementary Time Capsule in Lakeland, FL which had been buried for 30 years.  Our understanding is back in 1986 kids from the school placed items in the Scott Lake Elementary time capsule and today was the day to expose all the goodies.  Everything from a pair of roller skates, jelly shoes, Chinese bibles, English bible, cassette tapes, school shirt, and much more.  (more…)
