In a recent survey, market research found out that there is 21 percent of the millennial generation that prefers to drink alcohol at home because going out takes too much effort. Whether they want to be more frugal with their Tampa nightlife or not remains to be seen, but this is a concerning trend for bars and clubs everywhere.

If you cannot cajole this generation, with a spending power of almost $200 million annually, then how will nightlife businesses be able to survive? Baby boomers are staying at home, too, and Generation X are building families and focusing on having houses and cars of their own.

Quality experience

More than anything else, millennials want a new experience every time they go out. You cannot serve them the usual drinks and expect for them to come back. They want something new all the time and you have to make crazy adjustments in your business to keep them interested. Instead of serving their drinks to their tables, why not bring the bartender over and show them how the drinks are done?

Entertainment

Millennials are online almost 24/7. Even when they wake up in the middle of the night to pee, they would be taking their phones with them to check out Facebook and Instagram.

As a result, they are easily bored. They need more than just hanging out with friends and drinking to enjoy the night. Bars and clubs should offer more kinds of entertainment to keep this generation coming back.

Food

Millennials may be taking a lot of time photographing their food before they dive into it, but that does not mean that they don’t care about its quality. They want food that is delicious and they want their food to be experimental, too.

If you want to attract this generation, you better use the quality of your food to do that. But don’t just focus on the quality. You have to present your dishes in a manner that’s great for Instagram, too. It has to be an experience as well.

Healthy

Millennials are more health-conscious than previous generations. Part of their lifestyle is to go to the gym and drink smoothies and detoxify their bodies. They are always looking for alternatives to food and drinks that could make them feel better afterward.

Your bars should not just offer alcoholic beverages. You should also be able to offer healthy smoothies that appeal to this generation.
