Buffets in Tampa restaurants have somehow consumed the food world in the last decade or so. And why not? It’s cheap. It has a variety of food from all over the world. No waiter or waitress could judge you for how much you eat (since people are in buffets to eat more than they do regularly). And it’s a great way to enjoy the dining experience with your friends and family.

And yet, you are wasting money if you don’t have a pre-game ritual. Your routine will speak volumes as to how much you could maximize a single buffet. If you do not prepare yourself, you’ll end up eating less than you normally could and sampling less than you should.

Don’t go hungry, but don’t go full either

Do not go in a buffet hungry. That’s one of the main reasons why people get stomachache afterwards. The amount of food you will take in, coupled with the acid in your stomach for not eating much hours before will lead to a terrible acidic episode. While many people think that going hungry before going to a buffet is the right technique, this could cause a lingering medical problem in the future. Eat a light snack, even a salad will do. That will ready your stomach for the amount of food that you will take in later on. But hey, don’t get too full. Even salads could make you feel fuller.

Arrive early

Arrive early, so you could get a good selection of food. Some of the good ones will be long gone if you arrive an hour later. Buffets mostly have a set time for their service. During lunch hours, it’s usually 11AM to 2PM. Dinner service is more expensive, but it’s also a little longer (for the after-dinner drinks). Dinners in buffets could cost 10% more than the lunch fee, but it would also be at least 1.5 hours longer. Arrive on time, so you can get dibs on the shrimps, the lobsters, and the steaks.

Go with your friends or family

As always, everything is more enjoyable when shared with family and friends. Food tastes greater when you are in the company of your loved ones. Though there is no rule in eating alone in buffets, wouldn’t it still be nice to share this little moment with your friends and family? Go with them and experience new food and new cuisine. All of you can even take turns critiquing what dishes are good and what are not.
